Author Talk: What is Ratliner? with Heidi Bacon
Monday, August 10, 10:30 AM
St. Charles Public Library
On Monday, August 10 at 10:30am, Minnesota author Heidi Bacon will visit the St. Charles Public Library to present an interactive talk and book signing centered on her fact-based novel, “Ratliner.” She will discuss the family history and devastating World War II events that inspired the book, as well as current efforts to address and return items stolen during that era.
Bacon uses her experience as a former realtor, artist, filmmaker, and researcher to create historical fiction stories inspired by her family history. When not writing, she likes to paint and teach art classes at senior centers. Bacon has been a Master Naturalist volunteer, worked in the Department of Commerce, Department of Health, and Department of Agriculture, painted 3D printed fish for the Department of Natural Resources, and created murals for Minnesota’s State Parks. Her interest in history, archaeology, genealogy, caving, and cryptozoology inspired her stories.
Bacon’s presentation coincides with the library’s weekly Coffee & Conversation program. Every Monday morning, from 10:30-11:30am, the St. Charles Public Library offers free coffee, hot chocolate, and apple cider. Drop by the library for a hot beverage and a chat with your fellow community members.
This program was made possible due to a Library Legacy Grant. It is free and open to the public.
