Chione Quintet to Perform at the St. Charles Public Library

Story Time with Chione Quintet
Thursday, June 9, 3:30 pm
St. Charles Public Library

The musical group Chione Quintet will be at St. Charles Public Library on Thursday, June 9 at 3:30pm to perform their enchanting and educational story time program based on the book “Shoua and the Northern Lights Dragon,” written by Minneapolis author Ka Vang. This event is free and open to the public, and audience members of all ages are invited to attend and be swept away on a musical, magical journey.

Vang’s book follows the story of quiet and shy Shoua, a young Hmong-American girl who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime when her grandfather takes her camping in the north woods of Minnesota. When Shoua chases a falling star and discovers an injured dragon, she is determined to save her newfound friend. But to do so, she will first need to find her voice and make a place for herself in her family.

Set to beautiful and moving music composed by Minnesotan Jocelyn Hagen, Chione will not only share the story of Shoua with the audience, but also the stories of each unique instrument that comes together to make up their wind quintet. More information on Chione can be found on their website,

Chione will be bringing their new storytime program to public libraries across the SELCO region in June. This tour was made possible through ACHF Legacy Grant funding provided by the state of Minnesota and coordinated by SELCO (Southeastern Libraries Cooperating).
