Soldiers from Hitler’s Afrika Korps spent the summers of 1944 and 1945 in Minnesota. They were put to work in fields, woods and canning plants across Minnesota. Whitewater State Park was the site of one of their POW camps. Dr. Rick Musser, a retired journalism professor, will present pictures and stories of the captured German men and boys, some as young as 16, who lived and worked in southeastern Minnesota.
